The Shows:
Spring / Summer 2021 Awakening

Global fashion weeks took an entirely new direction in the wake of a global pandemic and it couldn't have been more inspiring. With an undeniable nod to sustainable innovation, here are some ways we saw fashion opening up its third eye.

CREATIVITY  From Balenciaga's music video to Collina Strada's wacky and wonderful mix of greenscreen and animation to Helsinki Fashion Week's Virtual Reality and 3D animation, designers around the world got creative within the constraints of social distancing. (And don't forget Moschino's amazing puppetry!)

BOUNDLESS  Whether genderless a la Louis Vuitton, seasonless as we saw at Prada, or supreme versatility on display at Y/Project, 2021 fashion knows no bounds. (Pssst, check out our genderless styles here!)

UPGRADED STAPLES  A notable focus on high-quality basics, sending the message that we can buy less and buy better, was the name of the game for Jason Wu and Hermès. (Check out our Basics Shop for accessible, high-quality staples!)

COMFORT CHIC  Glammed-up sweatsuits took center stage at Rodarte, Veronica Beard, and Nicole Miller. We might or might not ever leave home again, but this way we'll be ready either way! (Check out our YES AND cozy & stunning hoodies!)

REBIRTH  There was definitely an air of renewed values on the runway. It took shape as a return to craft with recycled & upcycled fabrics (Coach, Collina Strada, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Maison Margiela... and many more), and gorgeous knitwear (Gabriela Hearst).  (If you love one-of-a-kind artistic beauty, check out our hand-dyed tie dyes!)

There was something for everyone this fashion week, but especially those ready for a mindful change. What did you think of the shows? Let us know at hello@joinyesand.com!
